Tomorrow morning, the press conference for the presentation of the 31st edition of the International Tournament “Minibasket in Piazza” by Pielle Matera will take place. This basketball event, a highlight of the Matera summer, is not only Italian but truly international, as it will involve 48 teams representing four continents. Matera, and beyond, will be the hub of youth basketball from June 18th to 24th.
The excitement of the young basketball players will bring life, color, and warmth to the various courts set up for the games, aiming to entertain girls and boys aged between ten and eleven, who will animate this 2023 edition of “Minibasket in Piazza”.
Over the past weeks, we have informed you step by step about the various initiatives, news, and peculiarities of this tournament edition.
All this, and more, will be the subject of the press conference scheduled for tomorrow morning at 10 am at the “Sala Mandela” of the Matera Municipality.
The following will speak at the press conference: Domenico Bennardi – Mayor of Matera; Vincenzo Casone – Mayor of Santeramo in Colle; Antonio Materdomini – Deputy Mayor of Matera; Gennaro Rogges – Lieutenant of the Carabinieri Provincial Command in Matera; Giovanni Cotrufo – President of PIELLE; Angelo Tedesco – organizing committee; Luciano Cotrufo – organizing committee; Ilaria Martinelli – organizing committee.
During this meeting, the winners of the graphic competition related to the Tournament will be awarded (one child from each school that participated). “In a period of major conflicts, “Minibasket in Piazza” launches the challenge: children of the world against war and for peace,” this was the theme of the competition.
